My artistic activities are executed in prolific obscurity. They are a way of meditative auto-therapy, as well as a practice reflecting on the human condition and the world surrounding me. I’m interested in signs and symbols, the interaction of language and images, visual stereotypes, facial pareidolia, and the graphical representations of the human figure. I understand my practice of drawing as a way of unearthing fragments from the depths of memory, tickling the subconscious, and discovering fault lines in the frosting of our culture. I like to work in series, distrust art recipes, and explore incongruencies between different methods of visual representation. I’m skeptical of the verbal interpretation of my work, since my practice of making art is a form of non-verbal reflection and exploration, and potentially short-circuited by a re-translation into the medium it attempts to escape and transcend.
